After our action-packed days of learning, we'll be out on the town experiencing Louisville's food and local nightlife! It's a chance to discover new favorite dishes, explore the city, and network with our peers. Here's an overview of all the evening entertainment planned for Tourism Academy 2018.
1. Tourism Academy Opening Reception
Where: The Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs
When: Tuesday June 12th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
You cannot visit Louisville and miss the chance to see Churchill Downs, the iconic and historic racetrack that has been home to the Kentucky Derby for more than 140 years. We will be meeting in the lobby of The Seelbach Hilton Hotel (conference venue) at 5:15 pm on Tueday evening and boarding our waiting chariots (ahem... buses) no later than 5:30 to head over to the track and the Kentucky Derby Museum.
Enjoy an evening of food, drinks, music, and fabulous selfie opportunities by the track. Learn about the deep history of horse racing in Kentucky and take a walking tour of the racetrack with an expert guide. Don't forget to try a classic mint julep, the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby.
2. Dine Out in Louisville
Where: Your Choice
When: Wednesday June 13th from 5 pm - 8 pm
There will be time on Wednesday evening for attendees to explore Louisville's culinary scene. Tourism Academy sessions end at 5 pm and the big Tourism Academy party begins at 8 pm that night. Louisville is famous for its insanely filling Hot Brown dish. See if you can find the best Hot Brown in town. This local favorite was invented at the Brown Hotel in 1926 (and it is very much still on the menu). For more dining suggestions, check out this post. After dinner, head over to Tavern on 4th at 8 pm for the big party. It is just down the street from the conference hotel!
3. Big Party on Wednesday Night
Where: Tavern on 4th
When: Wednesday June 13th from 8 pm - 12 am
Bring your dancing shoes and come see Tourism Academy's live band playing all your favorite hits at Tavern on 4th. Unleash your inner kiddo and challenge another destination to a game of bocce, corn-hole, foosball, darts, pool, ping pong and more! Tavern on 4th is just down the street, a quick and easy walk from the Seelbach Hilton.
