Director - Arlington Convention and Visitors Service
Emily is Director of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Service, a division within Arlington Economic Development and the official destination marketing organization for Arlington County. In this role since 2006, Emily has been responsible for all tourism-related marketing and public relations; meeting and convention sales; and visitor and convention services. Arlington has been Virginia’s #1 county for tourism economic impact since 2009. Emily has also led the development of transformative visitor-services initiatives, including the County’s Mobile Visitors Center, Rolling Concierges on Segways®, and the Arlington Hospitality College.
Arlington visitors generated nearly $3.1 billion in spending in 2015, with tourism accounting for nearly 26,000 local jobs, $86 million in local tax receipts, and $115 million in state tax receipts. Emily has more than 25 years of marketing experience in travel and tourism, economic development and technology. She is an active member of Leadership Arlington (Class of 2010), the Destination Marketing Association International, the U.S. Travel Association, Destination DC, and the Northern Virginia Visitors Consortium. Emily holds an International MBA from the University of South Carolina and Austria’s Vienna University of Economics and Business, as well as a Bachelor of Journalism with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
